RFID Intelligent Cabinet – Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital

RFID INTELLIGENT CABINET SOLUTION

Description

Managing medical supplies and devices is a demanding task.  The manufacturers have developed numerous intricate distribution models, which heavily rely on the field inventory staff.  Hospital customer services call to sale representatives inquiring about the particular piece of inventory.  A field inventory staff needs to deliver that product to the RIGHT hospital on the RIGHT time.  Unlike the retail sector where a stock-out usually means a lost sale but the stock-out in the health industry must be avoided at all expenses because this puts patient safety at risk.  Besides, the challenge for field inventory staff is product visibility.  Traditionally the product status is manually recorded by field inventory staff which proves to be less productive.  In many cases an implant can sit as consigned inventory at a hospital for years.

Identify RFID Intelligent Cabinet Solution presents the most proactive solution for automating inventory management on site.  Our solution connects RFID reader with IOT technology.  When the devices are connected to the internet, they become an extension of our system.  We can eliminate all manual recording and turn this process to be paperless.  The status of the device can be informed in the real time manner without increasing operation cost on the on-site inspection.

How it works

We have employed both Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and IOT technologies for this solution.  Each device is affixed with RFID tag.  Our software will associate RFID tag with key product information such as SKU and its expiry date.  We have both short range and long range RFID readers in our cabinet.  The short range reader is designed to increase the security while the long range reader is employed for tracking purpose.  Only the authorized person with the right RFID card, can access to this cabinet through the short range reader.  The long range reader will scan all devices in the cabinet on schedule.  After reading the tags, all tag ID is sent to cloud server for data analysis.

This system allows you to monitor the devices on sites without assigning someone to manually count the devices on site as usual.  The system also notifies the devices which are needed to be replenished and the items with low movement.  This information will help you to plan the stock on each site.  It also highlights the items which are going to expire in order to ensure patient safety.
